In the morning, visit of the colonial center (Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, church and the Compaña Convent) and of the Santa Catalina Convent, genuine city within the city with its alleys bordered with colored houses. Lunch in a picanteria (included). In the afternoon, excursion to the watchtowers of Yanahuara and Cayma, offering a panoramic view over the fabulous surrounding volcanoes. The end of the day will be dedicated to the visit of the Sanctuarios Andinos Museum, well known for its collection of mummies found in the ice of the surrounding mountains, where they had been preserved for more than five hundred years. Visit of various colonial sites such as: Chilina, Selva Alegre, Miraflores, the old village of Paucarpata, the Windmill of Sabandía, Tingo, the watchtower of Sachaca, Puente de Fierro (Iron Bridge - designed by Eiffel), and the Church of Yanahuara. In the early morning, departure in a private vehicle for Toro Muerto located in the fertile Majes Valley. The site, in the middle of the desert, reveals thousands of petroglyphs over 5 km2, carved on the volcanic stones. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, observation of dinosaur footprints that have been preserved in the rock for millions of years, in Querulpa. Back to the hotel in Arequipa at the end of the day. Lunch included. In the morning, departure for the Pampa Cañahuas Nature Preserve, in order to observe camelids, including the graceful vicuña. Then, discovery of the rock paintings of the Sumbay Caves, located at 13,123 feet of elevation. Lastly, walk in the ‘Stone Forest’ of Imata where the strange rock formations leave the visitor skeptical. Transfer to the hotel in Arequipa. Cold lunch included. Dinner open. In the early morning, departure in a private vehicle for Yuri, a small village located 19 miles away from Arequipa. 3-hour hike in the narrow canyon, surrounded by lunar landscapes. The hike includes a walk in the thermal waters of the river until the Capua waterfall (98 feet high). Back to Yura to enjoy the hot springs. Lunch in a typical restaurant.
