Along the way......

Cuzco, the “navel of the world” and its sacred valley… Follow the Inca trail through the fabulous Andean mountains. The highlight of the trip being the extraordinary panoramic view of the citadel of Machu Picchu it offers, before actually visiting it. Have a good trip!

Day 1 :

Reception upon arrival at Jorge Chavez airport, in Lima. Transfer to the hotel.
Meals open

Day 2 :

Day dedicated to the visit of the Peruvian capital city. In the morning, discovery of the colonial quarters of the city center via the Plaza San Martin and the Plaza Armas. Then, visit of the Cathedral, the San Francisco Convent and its catacombs.
In the afternoon, discovery of the San Isidro district - in particular the olive grove del Olivar and its bicentennial trees- and Miraflores -the Huaca Pucllana Pyramid, the fabulous sea front and its gardens overhanging the Pacific ocean, the Larco Mar center with the visit of the museum room of gold-.
At the end of the day, visit of the district of Barranco, the artists place. Transfer to the hotel. Meals open.

Day 3 :

Transfer to the Lima airport for a flight with destination Cuzco, heart of the Incan Empire.
Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Rest to help acclimatize to the altitude. Afternoon dedicated to visit one of the most beautiful towns of the Peruvian Sierra: Korikancha (Temple of the Sun), the Cathedral, and the four ruins: Tambomachay, Pukapucara, Sacsayhuaman and Q’enko.
Back to the hotel at the end of the day. Meals open.

Day 4 :

In the morning, departure in a private vehicle for a day dedicated to the discovery of the Sacred Valley.
First stop at the ruins of Pisac. Visit of the site and walk around the handicraft market. Typical lunch and continuation of the excursion to the Incan village of Ollantaytambo. Visit of the fortress and stop in a ceramic workshop in Urubamba (Ayllu if open). Continuation of the journey to Chinchero to visit its colonial church.
In the late afternoon, transfer to the hotel in Cuzco. Meals open.

Day 5 :

In the morning, departure by vehicle for kilometer 82 of the railway track, departure point of the trek. Walk along the River Vilcanota and lunch-break at Miskay, at an altitude of 2700 meters a.s.l. (el. 8,858 feet).
Camp at Wayllabamba. Meals included.
Hiking time: around 6 hours.

Day 6 :

In the early morning, departure for the most difficult day of the trek. Walk to the Warmiwañusca Pass, at an altitude of 4200 meters a.s.l. (el. 13,780 feet) from where we appreciate the view over the surrounding mountains, including that of Veronica. Continuation of the hike down to the Pacaymayo camp. Meals included.
Hiking time: around 7 hours.

Day 7 :

In the morning continuation of the trek. We clear the second highest pass of the itinerary, at an altitude of 3900 meters a.s.l. (el. 12,795 feet).
Throughout the day, we make various stops to visit the archaeological sites of Runkuraqay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and finally Wiñaywayna at an altitude of 2650 meters a.s.l. (el. 8,694 feet). Dinner and bivouac on the site. Meals included.
Hiking time: around 7 hours.

Day 8 :

At dawn, departure to reach the highlight of this trek: the citadel of Machu Picchu.
The Inti Punku, the Gate of the Sun appears in front of us and the view over the Machu Picchu site is beyond compare. Day dedicated to the visit of the site; one of the wonders of the world, discovered in 1911 by the American anthropologist Hiram Bingham. Ascent (optional) to the Huayna Picchu.
In the afternoon, return by train to Ollantaytambo. Reception and transfer to the hotel in Cuzco. Meals open.
Hiking time: around 3 hours.

Day 9 :

Transfer to the Cuzco airport for a flight to Lima, the Peruvian capital. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Meals open.

Day 10 :

Three hours before take-off, transfer to Jorge Chavez airport in Lima. Assistance by one of our representative for your check in and customs formalities. Connection with the international return flight. Meals open.
