Along the way......

This 8-day itinerary, both active and intense, allows the discovery of Peru in an original fashion. In the program: Buggy on the dunes, Quad bike in Cusco, Sacred Valley on motorbike, low flight in a light aircraft in the heart of the Andes, and the un-avoidable train journey up to Machu Picchu. An athletic tour revolving around Andean history and tradition.

Day 1 :

Reception upon arrival at Jorge Chavez airport, in Lima.
Transfer to the hotel.
Meals open.

Day 2 :

Early morning departure in a private vehicle for Ica, a fast growing agricultural and wine producing town located South of Lima. Visit of the ’Adolfo Bermudez Jenkins’ Museum, a true gem, hosting a collection of interesting artifacts: fabrics, ceramics, mummies and trepinated skulls from the coastal Paracas and Nazca cultures, but also from the Inca period.
Lunch at the Huacachina Oasis. A 1-hour adrenalin buggy ride to cover 15 miles of desert and dunes, led by an expert. We stop to learn how to practice sand surfing, before continuing on to the oasis of Orovilca. Come back to Ica to join a private vehicle. Search for a camping site for the night in the middle of the desert and protected from the wind. We build a campfire and a start a barbecue to the sounds of Creole music (Afro-Peruvian music from the coast). We will reach Ica in the early morning for a traditional breakfast.
Note: 4-hour travels between Lima and Ica.

Day 3 :

After breakfast, we depart for LIMA where we start a short “panoramic” tour on the pacific coast. Lunch at LARCO MAR Center followed by a parapente flight if the conditions (“wind”) are appropriate.
Transfer to the hotel. Dinner.

Day 4 :

Transfer to the Lima airport for a flight with destination Cuzco, heart of the Incan Empire. Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Rest to help acclimatize to the altitude. Afternoon dedicated to visit one of the most beautiful towns of the Peruvian Sierra: Korikancha (Temple of the Sun), the Cathedral, and the four ruins: Tambomachay, Pukapucara, Sacsayhuaman and Q’enko.
Back to the hotel at the end of the day. Meals open.
Please note: visitors are not accompanied by a guide on this flight. Timetable and specific airline details to be communicated to visitors upon arrival in Peru.

Day 5 :

In the morning we depart for Pisac in a private vehicle. Quick visit of the site and of the handicraft market. We settle in our hotel where a traditional, coastal lunch awaits us “la pachamanca” (cooked in the earth) while admiring a horse show and a demonstration of Northern dance “la marinera”. In the afternoon, we start the descent by raft of the Urumbamba River, the Sacred River of the Incas. Return, wet, at the hotel where we will dine.

Day 6 :

In the morning, departure from Ollantaytambo train station for a journey to Aguascalientes. Direct connection to the shuttle service that will drive you to the citadel of Machu Picchu.
Day dedicated to the visit of the site; one of the wonders of the world, discovered in 1911 by the American anthropologist Hiram Bingham. In the afternoon, return by train to Ollantaytambo.
Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Meals open.
Please note: train timetables to be communicated to visitors upon arrival in Cuzco.

Day 7 :

In the morning, departure in a private vehicle for a day dedicated to the discovery of the Sacred Valley. First stop at the cultural site of Moray, a former Incan agricultural ‘laboratory’.
Then, continuation of the excursion to Maras: salt mines in the middle of the Cordillera! At mid-day, we start heading towards Cusco and the airport for a flight to LIMA. Transfer to the hotel located in the neighborhood of Miraflores.
Dinner on the shores of the pacific.

Day 8 :

Three hours before take-off, transfer to Jorge Chavez airport in Lima. Connection with the international return flight.
Meals open.
