Located in the heart of the eastern Andes and to the south of the city of Cusco, Ausangate Mountain (6333 m.a.s.l.) is considered to be the primary deity by of the Andean towns to the south. This is a high altitude circuit with strongly varying climatic conditions, and trekkers must be in good physical condition.
Day 1: LIMA RECEPTION
Reception at Jorge Chavez airport, flight ? to ? and transfer to Ducado ** located in the Miraflores district.
Free for lunch
Day 2: LIMA – CUSCO (AIRPLANE)
Transfer to the Lima airport for a flight to Cusco. Reception at the airport and transfer to Tika Wasi Hotel **.
In Quechua, Cusco means « navel of the world » because this town was the capital of the Inca Empire and was the departing point of the four regions of the World according to the cosmic vision that the Inkas had. Cusco is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cities of the Peruvian Sierra.
Rest to get acclimatized to the altitude. Free time for lunch. After lunch, guided tour of Cusco and it’s surroundings: The temple of the Sun – the Cathedral - Tambomachay - Pukapucara - Sacsayhuaman - Q'enko. Transfer to Tika Wasi Hotel ** at the end of the afternoon.

Day 3: CUSCO – PISAC – OLLANTAYTAMBO – URUBAMBA (PRIVATE)
9.00 a.m. Departure to the Sacred Valley in a private vehicle. After a 1-hour trip, we will be arriving at the Pisac ruins, which was once one of the most important fortresses of the Inca Empire mainly built to stock the Empire’s food supplies. Guided tour of the Inca site. We will walk back down to Pisac, the colonial village and walk around the Indian market (Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). Lunch in a restaurant to taste a typical buffet. In the beginning of the afternoon, we will continue our tour to see Ollantaytambo, which is an Inca village, and we will visit the fortress, which was a military, religious and agricultural strategic center. At the end of the day we will walk around this village’s streets. Transfer to Casa de Campo Hotel **.
Free time for dinner.

Day 4: URUBAMBA - OLLANTAYTAMBO - AGUASCALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU- CUSCO (TRAIN)
Hiram Bingham, an American anthropologist discovered Machu Picchu, in 1911. The archeologists estimate this citadel was built in the middle of the 15th century. Today several hypotheses have been ventured on the function this inaccessible citadel. Was it for military purposes? A kind of secret harem dedicated to the Inkas? A place to rest for the Inkas? It is still an enigma!
Departure at 08.35 a.m. by train (backpacker class) to reach Aguascalientes village. Arrival at about 10.10 a.m. and direct connection by bus to reach Machu Picchu citadel. Day dedicated to visiting the site. Free for lunch. Return to Aguascalientes by bus and connection to catch the train to Cusco at 03:55 p.m., arrival at 08:20 p.m. Transfer to Tika Wasi Hotel ** in Cusco

Suggestions: You can also reach Huayna Picchu peak. The hike up there is quite difficult. You will need good shoes, light backpacks and not to be afraid of heights. From the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Machu Picchu. You will need about 2 hours to go up and come back down.
Or you can walk to the Sun gate. Less dangerous and you will also have a beautiful view. It will take you about an hour and a half, both ways.

Day 5: FREE IN CUSCO
Free day to walk around Cusco’s typical streets of San Blas district. Tika Wasi Hotel **.
Free time for meals.
Day 6: CUSCO - TINQUI (4000 M)
After breakfast, we will travel to Tinqui by private bus. Along the way, we will have impressive views of the Vilcanota mountain range. Ultimately, we will make our arrival at Tinqui after 7 hours of travelling, and make camp for the night.

Day 7: TINQUI-UPIS (4400 M)
We will have breakfast and then spend the first day acclimatizing in the heart of the high plains. We will make an easy hike to the natural hot springs of Upis, and make camp for the night at the foot of the majestic Ausangate Mountain also called Upis.
Duration: 6 hours
Day 8: UPIS - AUSANGATE COCHA (4500 M)
After breakfast, we will take a long hike to Diente de Sierra. After trekking through the Arapa Pass at 4700 m.a.s.l., we will descend into a valley surrounded by beautifully coloured lagoons, including the Yanacocha Lagoon (4400 m.a.s.l). We will ascend again via the throat of Pucacocha Mountain, and then we will reach the Extremo Ausangate Pass (4950 m.a.s.l.), and then descend again and make camp at Ausangate Cocha.

Day 9: AUSANGATE COCHA - PASO PALOMANI/JAMPA (4600 M)
After breakfast, we will ascend the Palomani Pass (5100 m.a.s.l.) which is the culmination of our trek. From this point, it is possible to enjoy the great landscape offered by the snow-capped peaks of Ausangate (5800 m.a.s.l.) and Santa Catalina (5808 m.a.s.l.). After that, we will descend to Finayapampa (4400 m.a.s.l.) and finally make camp at Jampa (4600 m.a.s.l.)

Day 10: JAMPA – PASO CAMPA - PACCHANTA (4200 M)
Today, our journey will take us to the Campa Pass (5080 m.a.s.l.). Along the way, we will have amazing views of several lagoons and villages like Calacha and Pacchanta (4200 m.a.s.l.), where we will make camp and enjoy the natural hot springs.

Day 11: PACCHANTA – TINQUI - CUSCO.
We will have breakfast, and then start our way back to Tinqui, leaving behind the wonderful landscapes of the massive Ausangate. We will return to Cusco in the evening and you will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 12: CUSCO – LIMA (AIRPLANE)
Transfer to the Cusco airport for a flight to the Peruvian capital. Reception at the airport and transfer to Ducado Hotel **.
In the beginning of the afternoon, visit of the Peruvian capital with an English-speaking guide. We will go visit the colonial districts in the center walk by the Plaza San Martin, the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and we will visit the San Francisco convent.
Transfer to Ducado Hotel ** in the Miraflores district.
Free time for meals.
Day 13: LIMA – DEPARTURE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
3 hours before landing Transfer to the airport and connection for the international return flight. Free time for meals.
