Day by day…
An extraordinary itinerary showing-off all the natural beauty that can be found in the main attractions of the Cordillera Blanca. This incredible glimpse of nature is suitable for everyone.
Day 1: HUARAZ – HUARIPAMPA GORGE (3055 M)
On Day 1 we will travel by bus to Vaqueria from where we will trek to the Huaripampa gorge (3550 m.a.s.l.). Along the way we will pass through several small traditional villages.
We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +300 meters / -150 meters
Distance: 11 km; Duration: 5 hours
Day 2: HUARIPAMAPA – HUECRUCHOCA LAGOON (4000 M)
On Day 2 we will make a 7-hour trek to Punta Union and then on to the Huecrucocha Lagoon. From that vantage point we will have a magnificent view of the Taulliraju mountain (5830 m.a.s.l.) We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +940 meters / -720 meters
Distance 19 km; Duration: 7 hours
Day 3: HUECRUCOCHA -PISHGOPAMPA (3650 M)
On Day 3 we will make a 6-hour trek to Pishgopampa. From that vantage point we will have a great view of the Cordillera Blanca. We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +490 meters / -860 meters
Distance: 19 km; Duration: 6 hours
Day 4: TREK TO HUILLAC (4000 M)
On Day 4 we will cross the line between the mason forest and the Pacific coast. We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +960 meters / -610 meters
Distance: 13 km; Duration: 7 hours
Day 5: HUILLAC – SAFUNA LAGOON (4200 M)
On Day 5 we will walk for 6 to 7 hours to the high altitude lagoons of Safuna and Pucacocha (4512 m.a.s.l.) We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +512 meters / -312 meters
Distance 14 km; Duration: 6 to 7 hours
Day 6: SAFUNA LAGOON – JANCARURISH (4200 M)
On Day 6 we trek to the Jancarurish Lagoon. There we will view the Alpamayo mountain pyramid (5947 m.a.s.l.). We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +1010 meters / -390 meters
Distance 14 km; Duration: 7 hours
Day 7: HANCARURISH LAGGON OSORURI (4650 M)
On Day 7 during our trek to Osoruri we will have the chance to see some pre-Hispanic ruins. We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +650 meters / -200 meters
Distance 15 km; Duration: 7 hours Day 8: WISHCASH TREK (4350 M)
On Day 8 our trek will take us to Wishcash passing through the Osoruri Pass at 4860 m.a.s.l. Along the way, we will have an impressive view of the mountain range. We will camp at night.
Altitude Change: +330 meters / -880meters
Distance 8 km; Duration: 7 hours
Day 9: WISHWASH –HUALCAYAN (3139) – HUARAZ
On Day 9 we will trek to the town of Hualcayan. Along the way, we will see pre-Hispanic ruins. Later, we travel to Huaraz by private bus.
Free meals.
Altitude Change: + 1161 meters
Distance 9 km; Duration: 4 hours
Included:
Transport and subsequent transfers from your hotel in Huaraz, English speaking guide (+ 1 assistant if the group is > 8 people), 1 cooker (+ 1 assistant if the group is > 8 people), food during the treks, hiking and mountain equipment (tents, camping equipment, ropes, ice-picks, snow-brushes, first-aid kit), transport of collective equipment (by mules and porters).
Not Included:
International flight; Bus trip Lima-Huaraz; Hotels in Lima and Huaraz; Entrance fees to national parks and museums in Huaraz; Airport tax ($28 per person); Food purchases in restaurants in Huaraz and in the towns not included in the trek (food costs approximately $8 per person in a good restaurant). Personal equipment is also NOT included, such as a sleeping bag rated to –10˚ C; Mattresses; Hiking/Walking shoes; Helmut with light; Pick; Crampons, etc. These items CAN be rented. Note: Personal insurance is obligatory.
