Along the way......

Ausangate, the highest mountain in South Eastern Peru, has a most beautiful summit dominating the Vilcanota Cordillera. Its glacier is considered the principal divine protector of the people south of the Andes.
This six-day trek is made at high altitude and offers stunning trails, with snow-capped peaks and multi-colored glaciers and lagoons.

Day 1 :

In the morning, departure in a private vehicle for Tinqui. During the journey we get a chance to appreciate the landscapes with the Vilcanota Cordillera in backdrop. Arrival at the end of the day and set up of the camp. Lunch open. Dinner included.
Hiking time: around 7 hours; Climate: cold.

Day 2 :

First day of acclimatization at the heart of the Altiplano, with access to the hot springs of Upis, at an altitude of 4400 m.a.s.l. (el. 14,435 feet). We go over the Huahuayocrumi Pass and set up the camp at the bottom of the majestic Ausangate Glacier. All included.
Hiking time: around 6 hours.

Day 3 :

Day with a lot of elevation gain and loss. We first clear the Paso Arapa, at an altitude of 4850 m.a.s.l. (el. 15,912 feet). Then, we descend into a valley bordered by lagoons of shimmering colors, including that of Yanococha. Climb up through the Pucacocha Gorge to the Extemo Ausangate Pass, at an altitude of 4850 m.a.s.l. (el. 15,919 feet), followed by a 200 meters descent (el. 656 feet). Camp at Ausangate Cocha. All included.
Hiking time: around 7 hours; Climate: cold.

Day 4 :

We start the morning by the ascent of the Palomani Pass, the highest point of the trek, at an altitude of 5200 m.a.s.l. (el. 17,060 feet). View over the snow-capped peaks of Ausangate (el. 5800 m.a.s.l / el. 19,028 feet) and of Santa Catalina. Descent towards Finayapampa, at an altitude of 4400 m.a.s.l. (el. 14,435 feet). Then, arrival at Jampa Camp, at 4700 m.a.s.l. (el. 15,419 feet). All included.
Hiking time: around 7 hours; Climate: cold.

Day 5 :

Hiking day with destination the Campa Pass. Crossing of various lagoons and communities, and bathing in the hot springs of Pacchanta, at an altitude of 4200 m.a.s.l. (el. 13,779 feet). Night at the camp. All included.
Hiking time: around 7 hours; Climate: cold.

Day 6 :

In the early morning, departure on foot for Tinqui. Then, return by road to Cuzco, as we leave behind us the gorgeous landscapes of the massif of Ausangate behind us. Transfer to the hotel.
